I saw him once about 7 or 8 years ago when he came through Ohio. He was really good, but the highlight of his band was his keys player - that guy was out of this world.

I remember him being particularly crass during his show though - his name is Poppa Chubby so I can't say I was too surprised, but there was a large group of females at the show and it made for an uncomfortable environment for most of us. He's a really good player though.

Strats and a Super Reverb all night.

The only blues jam I have ever been to in my whole life was one Popa Chubby was hosting... Yes he was crass, yes he was a jerk, and yes I never went to a blues jam ever again. Ha.

I like him but don't know his whole body of work. 'Sweet Goddess Of Love And Beer' is a cool song. Never saw him live but would if I had the chance.

I've seen him a couple times and it has been many years now. I briefly talked to him at the LA BB Kings before a show and he was a really nice and almost quit guy, not on stage, but I wouldn't call him crass. But he was kinda of shy and soft spoken when I met him, so was Phil X the YouTube guy, completely different off camera.
Popa Chubby has quite a few good blues-rock albums out. I would think anyone that likes that kinda of tuneage will find stuff in his work.
