Road case blues

Not really a bluesy scenario I know, but Im about to order a road case for my main amp head. Im going with Brady Cases (unless theres another brand I should be checking out??) and Im not sure whether to opt for a Live in vs. Lift off or drop in case. Do live in cases cause over heating issues? And as far as material thickness goes, 1/2 3/8 OR 1/4 Birch is what Im looking at. Any advice would be awesome.

I can't comment on all of your questions, but a couple I have experience with - I have a couple buddies that are very satisfied with their Brady cases- I purchased a lift off from X-Cases and I am happy with the build quality for sure. It was about $50 bucks cheaper than my quote from Brady for the same thing. I went with the 3/8 instead of the 1/4 - I probably won't do that again because of the weight difference... If you have people lifting your cases for you, go as heavy as possible, if you are lifting your own like me, then go with the 1/4!
