RIP Ec Roman. Love him hate him, or otherwise he is dead.

I was at park and swap some years ago, and saw this jaw droping quilted blue Strat style guitar with a nice Floyd Rose, and it was gorgeous, played well, and was only $350. It was an Ed Roman Pearlcaster. Yeah Ed was a character, and opinionated about many things. Lots of people hate him, but sadly the friendly non megacorp music shops are GONE> Thanks Guitar Center, Sam Trash, and other big outfits that are the Walmarts of music. Anyway Ed died in his sleep a couple months ago. I have bought some of his kits that were kinda rough, but if you want easy bolt together crap go to mitey mite. If you want a killer neck through, get the unfinished body and star sanding. I also got my mom a Moserite from Ed. It cost a pretty penny, but it is very nice indeed, and has the German carve, Vibramute type tailpiece, etc. It is also one of the USA California models.

I won't argue Ed's character with anyone. Please don't reply what an a hole he was, and all that. as the fact is we can all be a holes when we ant to. Ed was better at it than most, but he was usually fairly straight up with me. .My uncle ran a music store for 30 years. Some people liked him some hated him. He made money and died while the store was still operating. My uncle was kind of a jerk to some people, but if you were genuine toward him and did not act like a primadona jerk he was a decent enough guy.

Sad about Ed. He was a character. Bigger than life. I was a dealer for many years and it was always a hoot when Ed was at the trade shows. He was liked by many of us dealers. Never boring, always great stories. That's what used to fuel the musical instrument business. Now that's all changed. RIP Ed Roman. We'll miss you. (Some people probably didn't like me either)

Ed was my friend for over 9 years. Total character, but very passionate about his guitars.
He had an amazing knowledge of guitars and the business in general. He was no BS. Great stories he had.

He told me about 3 years ago that his legacy would be his guitars. I personally own 3 Quicksilvers and they are all amazing instruments. I spoke to him in the hospital about a week or so before he passed. We all thought he was getting better. Very sad. He was only 61 which in this day and age is not too old. I personally will miss the guy.
