Identify this strat

I have a question about a strat I'm considering pick up via a trade. It's serial number is MN9xxxx - so I know it's a mexi 99. But the serial number is on the back of the headstock and it's got vintage tuners.

If I remember correctly, another strat I had was like this (serial number pacement and vintage tuning keys). I know that the tuning keys could have been changed, but I didn't think most other mexi strats had serial numbers on the back of the headstock. Is this a different run or a standard strat?

What color is the Fender logo on the headstock? Is it black?

Could be a 50's or 60's RI

It's a maple fret board, so that'd rule out a 60's, right?

Interesting. It doesn't have a solid black logo, just a black outline. It also dates as a 99, and these ended in 98. Sounds like we have a fun fender mystery going on.

A pic would help but my guess is a 50 RI. The squire series had the sn on the front.

If the logo looks like the picture below, it is a Classic Series '50s.

Does that have a v shaped neck?

Mine did.7.25" radius too, which is why I traded it for a FSR Tele with a 9.5" radius. It was a nice guitar though...I just hate that radius.

Just got it. V shaped neck, single ply pick guard, must remove neck for truss rod adjustment - looks like it's a 50's reissue! I'm pretty excited about that. BTW, I had not seen it until I made the trade with a trust worthy friend (he just picked it up via trade).
