Exclamation Forte 3D cabs! Help please!

I'm looking for some help from people experienced with Forte 3D cabinets, especially the 112 and 212 cabs. I'm not sure if I should get a 212 or two 112s, or if these cabs will do what I need at all! So opinions are greatly appreciated!!

My rig.
-Soldano Hot Rod 50
-I plan on loading the cab(s) with EVM12L speakers.

What I do and what I need.
The deal is, I'm tired of carrying my Orange 412 around, but I still need the biggest mix-cutting sound that I can get because I'm the only guitarist in my band. I want a transparent, balanced tone with a ton of clarity (that's why I chose EVM12L speakers). I don't need a lot of bass for chugging and I don't use a ton of gain.

This is my band, so you can get an idea of what I do
http://parallelfarewell.bandcamp.com/
(amp is Orange Rocker 30 into Orange PPC412, not my current rig)

I was thinking about placing my bassist's cab center stage behind the vocalist and running a 112 (tilted back with optional kickstand) on each side of the stage to balance the stage sound by dispersing my sound all over the stage. I'm just worried that the 112s won't sound full enough...

Any opinions on which cab I should get? How do these cabs sound when miced?

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I am not a Forte cab owner yet, but I have one on the way. With that being said, it is worth your time to give Dave a call and chat with him. I found him to be very helpful and honest about cabs and tone. Just my 2 cents. I am sure some actual Forte owners will chime in here at some point though.

always get two 1-12" cabs over single 2-12 - way more flexible. You can always stack 'em to get identical sound to a 2-12"

Yeah, and I actually found a few Forte threads on here with some great information and reviews. Everyone seems to love these cabinets!

I guess that I can't go wrong with such positive reviews and such a versatile rig.

I did try a Genz Benz G-Flex 212 yesterday, though. I thought it was pretty cool, but I might just go for the Forte cabs anyway.

I own a Forte vertical 2x12 (3D top, closed bottom). I love how it sounds. But the speaker I love in the bottom, EV AlNiCo SRO, is verrrry heavy. Your EV won't be quite that heavy, but still... heavy!

My vote is for two separate 1x12 cabs. With the EVM12L you can use just one of those cabs for a smaller rig, and still not worry about blowing your speaker. Or you can go to two - stacked vertically. That's a very cool and versatile rig idea.

I have a forte 2x12 s/v with a wgs Blackhawk and a evm12l. I can not compare to separate 1x12s but I can tell you it is the best cab I have ever plugged into. Highest quality workmanship I believe you can find in a manufacturer. Dave is also great to work with.

The s/v is something remarkable. Fills the room with thick, syrupy, three dimensional sound. Perfect dispersion and makes anything you play through it sound like godzilla.

Well, for 212 owners, how is the dispersion? My concern with the 212 is that at practice and on stage, all of the sound will be directed at my ankles. Everyone in my band needs to hear me nice and clear at practice, and i still need to be able to fill out the sound. My bassist has a huge low end, so i need to fill in the middle and upper registers without being harsh

And also, does anyone have an opinion of the Genz Benz G-Flex 212? One popped up in my area for $300, so I thought I'd at least look into it

The Forte Cabs guy is a member and regular poster here. Just contact him. He seems like a straight up guy that would sell you what best fits your needs and not upsell you something you don't need. I know you're looking for real world experience, but I would contact him as well. Peace!

I run my SLO into the Forte112 and I dig it. I've used it for gigs along with a 4x12 cab, the latter mainly for looks and having a second cab on the stage and a place to rest the SLO. But I'd be fine with the single little Forte cab.

IMHO the 2x12 will semi-defeat the purpose of lugging around a big cab. Two EVs will be quite heavy no?

Get the 112: it's also nice for rehearsals in tight spaces because of it's good sound dispersion.

I emailed Dave and talked to him about my rig and what sound I'd like and he said that either would work. He did also agree that two 112s would be a more versatile rig, but he said that the 212 would be more like the 412 that I'm used to.

I'm mainly posting on here to hear from players that have experience with either so I can make sure that the 112s will sound big enough or the 212 will have enough dispersion.

But I do agree, Dave is extremely helpful and his dedication to customer satisfaction is second to none. His customer service and attention to detail are major reasons why I want his cabs in the first place!

I just need to decide between either getting two 112s or a 212. ahaha

See, that's what I thought the weight of the 212 as well. The 212 would ony be like 20 lbs lighter than my 412, but it'd probably be less awkward to carry.

Do you happen to have any videos or sound clips of the Soldano with the Forte?

I've only been able to find a video of a guy playing a Two Rock through it, and it wasn't near the amount of gain that I use for my band!

Another vote for two 1x12s. If you're not old now, you soon will be with a 2x12 to lug around. In addition, I think you'll get a tighter sound with two cabs. Just my 2 cents.

Another idea to throw into the mix, since you're planning on using EVM12L speakers, is to put one in a thiele cab. My Forte 3D 1x12 is loaded with a WGS Blackhawk 100w alnico and sits atop a Lopoline 1x12 thiele cab loaded with an EV SRO (ceramic). The Blackhawk is made to be an EV SRO alnico replacement. It works perfectly in the 3D and I love the alnico/ceramic mojo of the two cabs together. The thiele is very balanced and does not have overpowering bass with the EV SRO, IME.
