New iPad and Jamming Wirelessly?

So i guess you can get together with three other people wirelessly and play together?

http://www.apple.com/ipad/from-the-a...arageband.html

Does this mean I can plug my guitar in and jam with my buddy down the street??

Or is this just a cheap little thing they threw together?

Any one have any info on this? the website doesn't state it clearly....

No for this purpose (using Jam Session instead of recording into Garageband) you don't play a real guitar from what I can see. You and your friend both play Garageband on your own iPads. The two iPads sync up over WiFi or Bluetooth. You'd have to go over to your buddy's place (or the other way around) unless one of you has a really strong WiFi signal.

You don't need the new iPad to run Garageband from what I can see. Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch will do.

There's still no way to truly play together in real time over IP due to network latency issues. There are little tricks like having everyone contribute to a "loop", where every node is pinged by a central server to determine how much each users stream will have to be adjusted for latency, but this is a far cry from normal real-time jamming.
