Maybe they were just following him with the blimp camera. I would think the noise of a helicopter wouldn't work at a golf tournament.

I don't think it was that unusual and I bet if Phil was carted off they would have followed him too.

*Feigned injury and bolted mid-tourney cuz he was sucking..
*Previous drama..
*Notion that he might return to greatness in 2012 (after late 2011 tournament win)...

Are you actually surprised by this?? TV = whoretastic for ratings, as ratings = $$$$.

PS. I of course don't know if was truly faking.. But,,, most people I've known with Achilles tendon injuries have been dropped like a sack of potatoes.

It's exactly why the game doesn't need him. This is just more of the USA obsession with, and consumption of, 'celebrity'... that's all we're seeing here, not much at all to do with the game of golf. I wouldn't cry any if his next injury put him off the tour for good, I think the game would be better off for it.... celebrity mags and the news? Not so much, and a lot of golf/Tiger 'fans' would quickly go back to not caring about him or the game.

You are absolutely correct on the moral high ground. That said, TV "golf" is still trying to keep from

I thought that too, because all I had seen was him in the golf cart and in the parking lot, which could be done with the blimp or even from a luckily placed high crane or two that they use at tournaments, those things go up pretty high and can cover a lot of ground. But I checked with google and there were reports that specifically mentioned a helicopter, and seemingly following him after he left the course, which a blimp couldn't do for very long.

Well I never would have guess it was a helicopter. I promise that if Phil rode off on a cart they would have followed him. I don't understand why this is an issue.

First off, I don't play golf nor watch it...but...I have never seen the big deal with the Tiger Woods obsession. The guy has NO personality and it is just plain boring listening to him talk. Also get tired of sportscasters only talking about him when the golf segment comes up on the nightly news. He hasn't done much noteworthy since he came back. It is crazy how they report on his nothingness and ignore whoever is actually winning the tournament.

which is why you don't understand the "obsession." i believe he is #3 on the all-time wins list. he's 36 years old, and changed the game of golf since he started on the tour, in turn making a lot of players a lot of cash that would have probably been teaching at munis trying to scrape together an entry fee. don't like it? don't watch. don't complain. easy.

I don't think they'd have followed Phil's car after he left the course, which I believe is the issue here, I wasn't watching the tournament. IMO that's taking it to ridiculous extremes. It really makes them look like TMZ. Certainly they'd have followed Phil to the parking lot.
