What are your favorite new Vox and Fender combo amps?

Looking for authentic sounds that take pedals well. Mostly for pop/rock and alternative vibey stuff ala Coldplay, U2, Muse, Buckley. Also some cleans like The Police and THe Pretenders and middle of the road like Tom Petty and the dude in Sheryl Crow.

???

Sounds like you need a big clean pedal platform. For the money, a 212 Deville is hard to beat.

AC15HW1

I think its authentic, but what do I know. It takes pedals much better than most Vox. The Normal channel is a great clean platform. The Top Boost has its own thing, no pedals required for dirt. Its pretty versatile volume wise too. It has a half power mode and a master volume.

I'm real happy with an AC15CC1 that bought off CL. Bright cap had been clipped. JJ's and an Emi Wizard installed after I got it. Sounds great to me. Someday I'll move up to one of the HW's

Does it have to be a fender or vox? If not, I'd suggest a mesa TA30. Should do everything you want and more.

My favorite smaller Vox type amp is the Magic Amps Brit. In the AC-15 vein...the EF86 channel is killer but I actually like the Normal channel even better.

My favorite Fender combo for pop rock / alt stuff would be a vintage Vibrolux Reverb. Doesn't have to be an expensive BF model. A good 70s version can sound spectacular too.

i think half those bands use Vox so that's what i'd be looking for. the new Handwired series is supposed to be the sex b-bomb, as suggested above. and not very expensive either.

the only radical exception is Buckley who used a Mesa. (at least that's what he used in the live concert video i have)

I went around and played a bunch of amps and found an AC30 I really liked, it's for a specific clients record and I think it's gonna really do the trick. GC had a few of the AC30C2s and they all sounded pretty different, the one I went with sounded so different and so much better I actually thought it was a different model. The chimey cleans with my Tele are pretty incredible.

didn't know you left, but since you are now out that way, you may want to investigate some top hats (for future reference). the club royale (voxy) specifically, but maybe the super fat deluxe (fendery), as well. fat sound guitars is in chapel hill, and top hat (brian) is in apex. relatively cheap in the used market if you don't want to go new.

the handwired voxes are also great but don't have as many sounds in them.

freaksho- jeff buckley used the mesa for dirt and a fender for cleans.

Best current production amps in order of preference, IMHO:
Vox: Bad Cat Cub IIR (15w), Matchless Spitfire, Magic Brit TB86 (15w), Gabriel Voxer (32w), Xits Sadie (15w), Vox Heritage AC30
Blackface: Vintage Sound Vintage 22, Fargen Blackbird (40w), Allen Accomplice(22/35w)
