New Scam? Trouble in Europe? Look at these bizarre e-mails...

Maybe some other guys have been getting these, but I thought I'd post these 2 bizarre e-mails. Both from names you would know immediately if I mentioned them.

Yesterday, I got this e-mail from a very respected amp builder who I have done business with and, had exchanged e-mails with:

Subject: It's urgent, please respond
Sorry to bother you about this. Could you please do me a favor? I am presently in Spain and I am facing some difficulties here because I misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my money and other valuable things were. presently my passport and my things are being held down by the hotel management pending the time I make payment. I need you to help me with a loan of 2,550 Euros to pay my hotel bills and to get myself back home. I will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist me with, I will refund the money back to you as soon as i return, let me know if you can be of any help ASAP. I don't have a phone where i can be reached. I am so confused right now. please let me know your response immediately.

Your help is much appreciated,

I thought that was very strange and I did not reply. But, it just got stranger. I got this one about 15 minutes ago from a pedal builder who you would also definitely know if I mentioned his name:

Subject: Awful trip!!!...(then the builders name)

Just hoping this email reaches you...Well,i'm sorry for this emergency and for not informing you about my urgent trip to London,United Kingdom but I just have to let you know my present predicament. Everything was fine until I was attacked on my way back to the hotel, I wasn't hurt but I lost my money, bank cards, mobile phone and my bag in the course of this attack....I immediately contacted my bank in order to block my cards and also made a report at the nearest police station. I've been to the embassy and they are helping me with my documentation so i can fly out but I'm urgently in need of some help from you to pay up my hotel bills and my flight ticket back home...My return flight back home is scheduled to leave in few hours from now...Now am freaked out....Please i need your help..

Hope to read from you soon.

Thanks and Regards.

Anybody else getting these e-mails?

I'm well aware of the 'send money' scams and, I didn't think either of them was legit but, found it interesting how one of the e-mails even had the link to the builders website.

Apparently, I haven't seen them all yet.

I received a similar one from a friend whose account was hacked a while back. I sent him this reply.

"No problem, I just wired you $1,500. I won't need you to pay me back until next week."

He wrote me back in a panic..."That wasn't from me!"

This is the same scam that's been going on for a while now. It's becoming more prevalent because for whatever reason, people are falling for it. Usually, a person's Email is Hijacked, then the con sends out these type of emails to all those in the stolen account holders Address Book.

This just happened to an older friend of mine.....but I was able to contact her, and other folks to prevent anyone from believing it fortunately. These cons prey on Grandparents and the elderly based on the conversation I had with my local PD.

Got one like that yesterday from Lou Rosano's Yahoo account. It's B.S. plain and simple.

I just saw this thread, and I need your help. I'm traveling in Prague, and I lost my prescription for Thorazine. If I don't take my meds, I am at risk of not being able to collect the £8,900,000 I last night deposited in the UniCredit Bank Czech Republic, a.s.

I'm appealing to everyone at TGP to wire to me just $60 each so that I can buy medication (this medication is very expensive here in Prague and has to be bought at "street value" one pill at a time) so that I can make it through to next week, when the funds will clear the bank.

For your help, I will reimburse each $60 with $3,600 upon the release of funds from the bank on March 29th. This all needs to happen right away, as the StB (Czech Secret Police) are following me so I must keep on the move at all times.

Please do not call my cell phone - my Bluetooth headset is inoperative as I have to wear a tinfoil hat in order to keep the police from controlling me with electronic waves.

Thank you all for your help.

The troubling thing about these scams is they have to be working on someone else they would not continue to send them or would they..?

Lots of email account hacking going on in the UK at the moment.
My bro, a close friend, my wife and myself have all had Yahoo email accounts hacked in the last few months.
I change my password weekly now.
