Thumbs up I need to cover The Kills, what beater should I get?

I've gotta get some of those ranchy down tuned sounds to cover some Kills tunes in my band. What's cheaper guitar can I get that will get those bassy garage sounds that Jamie's old hofners with "staple" pickups get. None of my guitars right now can handle that tone. Maybe a Black top jag w/ buckers? I was thinking a gretsch pickup would be perfect, but none of their guitars have the long scale length for being tuned to d then the e down to c. If you can find an old Teisco, even one with a single pickup, I think that would work well. A lot of them have the pickup located more in the middle than towards the neck or bridge. They are pretty lo-fi.

Love The Kills by the way. I usually don't go for that type band but I saw them as a warm up act and enjoyed them very much. Have fun with that.

Awesome glad you like them man... I've found a few Teiscos in the pawn shops, but none that have a straight neck or that I can keep intonated. I'll keep looking though because that was my first thought. Thanks for the help man.

Get a Danelectro reissue and hit it with a loose OD (HBOD is great for this) or a fuzz. My Dano RI is my go-to guitar for raunchy lo-fi or garage.

ya? Dano's have enough low end to play the bass parts as well? I'll check that OD too.
