So sad.

You've probably done this, but make sure to file a police report and insurance claim...

It's a good idea to let the local pawn shops know, as well as major music chains like Guitar Center.

Keep an eye on CL in your city, and surrounding area if you can.

Really... good luck.

That blows.
The good news is that those are some high priced guitars and should raise some eyebrows when the try to sell them.

I would post pics of each with details and production years. Check eBay, Craigslist , pawn shops, and gear dealers that buy collections and deal international.

Prime suspect confessed and charged...accomplice named as well...
Anyone have experience they can share on what to expect in the process? Police indicating not likely any property will be recovered but investigation is still ongoing.
In addition to guitars, perps stole my son's 2011 Honda Civic, and many valuable personal and household items...all amounting to over 70K in stolen property.

Hope you have insurance.... do you need a special rider for that many guitars?

I doubt there will be much of a process, other than what your insurance company has. Police don't seem to care much about property crime. All the resources go toward violent crimes and drug production/distribution.

It sounds odd that anyone confessed.

/neighbors were broken into--- thieves took a bunch of personal items and returned a few weeks later to steal the car (since they already had the keys). Police caught them and didn't even charge them. Only thing my neighbors got back was their car. Something about not enough resources....

Yeah we got lucky in catching them....2 19 year old kids that knew my son and knew we were away...I agree with your comments re: Police focus...no word on my son's car being recovered yet which I would think would be fairly easy given the arrest.

Major, massive sympathy for your loss - and outrage at the perps!

Can these little charmers be "persuaded" to tell you what they did with the loot?

Definitely call all the hock shops. That'll be Plan B, after Guitar Center.

I threw in a call just now to GC - Central Dallas. They have the list of gtrs and s/no's already and are looking out for them. Turns out the two kids tried to sell two of them at the GC in North Dallas, but took off when GC asked them for ID and proper paperwork.

Wishing you the best outcome - ouch!

I think you should not put too much worry into what other people say and think, if you've found something that works for you.

I don't do math. I'm a guitar player, so I know 1/2 the alphabet and how to count to 2 twice.

Some good news to report...2 of favorite Strats recovered - the 60's NOS 3 color sunburst and the '69 Masterbuilt by Yuri Shishkov...both back in good order except the cases are pretty roughed up.

I Will also be getting back the '58 Les Paul that was sold to local Guitar Center - that one is Police custody now and assuming it's in good shape given what I know GC gave for it.

Have much praises for GC's process and good controls on gear they buy/sell/trade...it really helped build the evidence against now 3 suspects. Investigation still ongoing...

Also, you could set up searches on eBay for serial numbers to show up or some other unique specification. I'd be curious if anyone has had success with this. Also, you can google CL like this "XYZ123456 site:craigslist.org" and get all the CL's in the country.
