flattop sliding volume pedal invention: would you use it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PuX6tV1KYwI just saw this on youtube
It seems pretty cool, you won't have the scratchiness in an audio pot. But harder for swells, maybe? What do you think? Like it? Hate it? Would you use one? Any ideas on modifications to make it easier for swells? |

Looks kinda neat, but I can tell you right now - anything made out of MDF isn't gonna last that long on a pedalboard, much less if you don't use a board. Sure, MDF is cheap, easy to work with and obtain, but it's just not something I'd want my show to depend on.
Neat idea though. I imagine it would take some getting used to.

What about a regular pot, with a rubber toy wheel attached to it for foot-use?

Yessir! That is why I use an MXR Micro Amp with one of their Rubber Knob Covers (yes, laugh at the name). Easy to adjust with my foot if I need to and less quirky things using active boost than passive attenuation IMO. T1M has a cool volume pedal with a bigger knob (expression knob), I always thought it would be cool to put that on the side of a pedal, I think it would be more ergonomic. I had JHS do that to a pedal for me - a 1 watt amp / dirt pedal - with input gain expression knob on the right, output volume on the left (though I wanted one knob to control for both: as drive increases, volume remains the same).
