Antique 5 Tube Radio

Went along with the family on their regular Saturday flea market run and scored a couple of cool pieces for cheap.

One a 50's home audio Pentron tape deck with 6V6 SE amp inside, complete with power and output transformers.
Gutted that and kept a few good cosmetic parts plus the iron and the tubes.
GE 6V6GT and GE6SJ7.

But the home run is a working 5-tube AM radio.
Case might accommodate an 8" speaker.
Yes, it works!

It will make a great little guitar amp.
I already have an RCA table top, but there is nothing on AM any more to listen to.

Cute. Too bad there's no Oldies or '40s/'50s EZ listening station there.

I'll preserve the actual radio for another collector.
Going to use that little cabinet and put some kind
of classic guitar amp circuit in.
The trick is getting a solid, rattle-free cab.

The transformerless radio circuitry isn't safe for conversion without a lot of other work...like installing a 1:1 power transformer.
