I have a '73 HiWatt DR-504. Don't see many of those listed or discussed much. I'm wondering if there's a market for them. Thinking of selling . . .

Cool score. I have a Hiwatt Studio Stage 20/40 MKII as well. Pretty versatile and gets a lot of play. 4 EL84's and can cut the power in half. Class A. Different than a traditional Hiwatt and has its own thing going on. I'll unfortunately be putting it up on the emporium soon since I have a '72 Hiwatt incoming and can't afford to keep both. Congrats!

I have a matched pair of Amperex 6CA7s that I removed from my HiWatt DR-504. I was told that they were difficult-to-find. Let me know if you or anyone is interested in the pair. Here is a good site that I frequently visit when looking for NOS tubes:

Vintage mullard preamp tubes are escential IMO.

Power tubes: I recently installed a quad of vintage RFT EL34s with great success:

Strat Normal Channel Cleanish

Les Paul through bright (volume max)

This combination of tubes gives a warmer overall response, but the clarity of the Hiwatt circuit keeps things defined.

Lightbulb

Amp runs EL 84s,and I've got my choice down to JJ or Sovtek......don't have NOS in the budget at the moment.

Just put some JJ 6CA7s on my DR103 a couple weeks ago.
Love the tone. I miss the EL34 warmth, but I like the liveliness (and even more Hiwatt-ish) of this set a ton. I'll probably stick with these for a while.
