T1M EBVPJr Tone Suck Mod Questions
Is it supposed to be the first pedal in your chain since it has a buffer? I'd like to put it after my overdrives but does that defeat the purpose? If I put it after my overdrives, then it would be 3 true bypass pedals, then the VP with Tuner Out, then 2 more true bypass pedals. If I put it after my overdrives, then should I get a separate buffer to put in the beginning of my chain?
Also, what is the 9v input for? Does it power the VP or is that a separate power source for the tuner? Thanks for your help. |

You're over thinking it. Putting it after your drives is fine, 9v input is to power the buffer that T1M puts in there I assume.

There's no prob with that setup. You can run it first, last, under your amp... point being is there will be a buffer wherever you put it.

Ok thanks guys. So, just curious, if I didn't power it, then it would be just like having a regular EBVPJr w/o the mod right?

You probably won't have any signal. I have never heard of this mod but I do know that a buffer needs to be powered to work and your signal goes through it. My guess is that he puts the buffer right before the volume pot.

he can add an on/off switch to bypass the active circuitry for a small upcharge. I would send him an email (allow for some time to respond, Dan is SUPER busy) to get the best answer.

Or have basically any other builder do the exact same thing for the same amount of money and a one-day turnaround.

The buffer is... they tag their buffer onto the input of the pedal running a split to the tuner and pot. If there is no power there is no sound. You would have to add a switch though to bypass it for passive use.
