ASW Absolute or Elegante?

I've been interested in the tonal differences between these two speakers, but there is little information on them...in fact Austin Speaker Works doesn't even have a description of the Absolute on the site yet.

Has anyone who has tried both of these been able to hear a big difference in voicing? I'd actually be interested in hearing from anyone who just tried one or the other, so I can get a better idea of their tonal characteristics.

There's a bunch of info on people who have tried one or the other of them, but not much on direct comparisons of the two.

I'll bump for those who have played both side by side.

From what I've heard so far they're both similar to a Celestion Blue, but I can't find much else that would lead me to believe they were different speakers other than the fact that they have different names lol. There are no specs on ASW's site except on the Absolute except for the weight. Do they have different power ratings or anything simple in that vein of information that might help figure their tonal differences?

I have had both and greatly prefer the Elegante. The Absolute sounded choked in comparison.

I have KTS 70 in my Dual 20, I would like to try Elegante. Do you have Elegante in your Dual 20 and could you compare it to 70?
Thanks,
Jaya

I have an Elegante in my Dual 20's 1x12 cab and can't imagine even wanting to try a KTS-70 in there. The Elegante is just perfect for my Dual 20. (I do have a 70 and 60 mixed in a 2x12.) With as much speaker swapping as I do, that's saying something.

I really suck at describing speaker tone, this one versus that one, but I can offer that in terms of feel the alnico speaker just has a certain sponginess or softness around the edges of the notes and a smooth top end that so nicely compliments that "edge of breakup" sound that is the hallmark tonal sweet spot for a Voxy amp. The ceramic KTS-70 has a different feel and midrange response. It is tighter, less "forgiving," snappier, punchier, all those sorts of adjectives. In fact, like most G12H30 types, I don't love the 70 on its own. I prefer it mixed with something. That's just my ear.

FWIW, I did experiment with a Gold, a Scumback H75, and a Scumnico with my Dual 20. The Elegante is my favorite for how that amp is voiced. I've popped the Elegante in other 1x12 amps and preferred other speakers in those other amps, e.g. a Gold resides in my SC-30. So I'm not saying it is perfect for every application and cures the common cold, but it sure works with my Dual 20.
