Make no mistake about it, the man can shred when he wants to. His DVD is awesome!

When I think of tasty guitar players Johnny A is the first guy that pops in my head. He has such control over the instrument. With him it never becomes a wank fest. Im a huge fan so I have everything he did. IMO the live album is essential because of the new tracks and the different arrangements he gives on the tunes. His version of wichita lineman is one of my top five tunes ever.

All of the above, plus:

His studio CD albums are incredibly well-recorded and mixed, with every instrument clear as day, and not brickwall limited. So you can really hear all the subtleties going on within his arrangements.

We need another studio album, Johnny A!

I think you should not put too much worry into what other people say and think, if you've found something that works for you.

I don't do math. I'm a guitar player, so I know 1/2 the alphabet and how to count to 2 twice.

Tonequest report did a great writeup on all his gear: http://www.johnnya.com/tone_quest_0905.pdf. IIRC, that record was his Gibson signature model, which is somewhat based on an ES295, and a Marshall 30th anniversary amp.

Love Johnny A. Great, unique player who really has his own thing going on. It's always been a mystery to me that his name doesn't come up more around here.

He used to work with and produce (I Believe) Peter Wolf. I've seen him twice. Incredible player and very nice guy.

One of the great guitar players of our time - his arrangements and phrasing are simply a beautiful thing to listen too...

He built a studio and just started preproduction for his new album about three weeks ago. He has demo recorded 14 songs. Real production starts within the next couple of weeks...no release date set.
He puts updates on his FB page www.facebook.com/JohnnyA.Official

I have a bootleg of him playing for Bobby Whitlock.

Between Bobby's B3, Bobby's voice & Johnny A, there's a lot to enjoy!
