Love for the Snakeskin Charvel DeMartini guitar ?

WTF...................

Custom shop and hand painted Charvel and $2700.

That is one of the most desirable hotrods Ive ever seen and I love it. I really dig the crossed swords charvel WDM plays, but that snakeskin axe is just mesmeric, any love for the snakeskin DeMartini here ?

Very cool guitars.

In theory...the idea of one that is covered in actual snakeskin seems cooler...until you play one with actual snakeskin.

I had one...and it felt so weird to have that snakeskin rubbing against my arm...that I now think painted on snakeskin is a great idea.

If you need it to say Charvel, that's the going rate. If you just want a bitchin' guitar with a Floyd and paintjob like that, I wouldn't be surprised if the same specs by GMW were at least $700 cheaper (+/- depending on specs).

I would have thought the scales would start peeling off in the long run.

------------And the flip side of your agruement is If I ever HAD to sell either guitar, I would get at least $700 dollars more selling the Charvel than I'd ever see selling the GMW...............The REAL Rocker.

I've seen & played a real snakeskin covered one at Performance Guitar years ago - it used to be Warren's. After seeing that one, I have no desire for a faux finished one.

The funny thing about Warren's real snakeskin one, is that he said that the snakeskin killed the tone of the guitar. Just ruined the resonance compared to his others.

I played one these Charvels, and I fell in love with the neck. I would own a DeMartini if they were $1600 or less. I just can't spring for $2300 or more for a guitar like that, and Warren was my hero growing up.

Love? Nope, none whatsoever for a guitar that looks like a kiddies wannabe metal 'axe', with a Floyd Rose talent lever. Horrible.

Then I suggest you go post in another thread. Rather than @#$%ing up the one thread on something different, maybe in one of the 2,547 other threads about Telecasters on TGP since you seem to like those enough to own 3 of them. I'm sure it'll be far less stressful for you.

If you're buying with resale in mind, you either can't afford the guitar in the first place or you can't commit to guitars. I'd rather buy something made for me and sans middle man. If I'm worried about selling it, I don't make the purchase in the first place.

that's certainly one opinion. others might argue they'd rather buy something that they can enjoy the heck out of and still be confident that, if they ever needed to sell it off for unforeseen reasons, they wouldn't lose most of what they had into it.

It doesn't invalidate a commitment to the guitar and it's not a reflection on what they can and can't afford, but does provide a "safety net" of sorts.

there's another opinion. isn't the internet fun?

I'm a financial conservative, which doesn't tend to jive with most musicians. Within reason, an unexpected bill shouldn't warrant me selling gear at a loss. (knocks on wood) I've been a musician long enough to know that a lot of emergency sales are simply because they could barely afford it in the first place, if that.

It's your money. The middle man adds nothing to the equation, so I don't see myself paying them.
