High Powered Speaker Needed: Modded Deluxe Reverb - 2 6L6's

This is for a friend. He's a multistylist, so it's tough to say "waht kind of music" ?, but he is def a strat player all the way

Here's his question to me:
Quote:
What is the absolute best single 12 inch speaker to get the most volume/power, & tone out of a 45-50 watt Fender amp with 2 6L6's? This is a great amp & I want it to "Be All That It Can Be"
Quote:
BTW,,this is an old Fender Deluxe that has had the transformers replaced with better ones,,and the tubes sockets changed to work with 6L6's,,,because the transformers will now handle them. So it's now kinda like a "Mini Twin"

Well, if you want high-powered, an EV-12L is hard to beat.

The downside would be that his Deluxe would weigh plenty with an 12L in there.

Eminence Man-O-War 120W 8 ohms. Good head room and bottom end and overall tone!
Not an overly heavey speaker either!

If he plays mostly clean a JBL K-120 hempcone. If he plays more gain-y music, I really like those Celestion C90's. There's one in the emporium, 16 ohm, for $60.00, that I've been eying, but just don't need another one of. This will break up a bit earlier than the EV's. "Best," is all about what kind of application.

I can highly recommend the WGS Blackhawk HP for a 50w combo. A wonderfully balanced speaker, which I would describe as a warmer and more forgiving EV-ish sound (in that the midrange is fairly flat), with nice full tight lows and a sweet sparkle that doesn't fizz when used with overdrive. Much lighter too.

Cool

Eminence 1258 has a mid bump at 3k that works well w/DR's.

A Weber Chicago would also be a good choice.
