From Steve Cropper's Facebook page:

Today I lost my best friend, the World has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live. Duck Dunn died in his sleep Sunday morning May 13 in Tokyo Japan after finishing 2 shows at the Blue Note Night Club.

Thank you, Duck, for the pleasure of seeing you play and hearing you play for so many years. You made the world a better place. God bless you.

We can hope Wikipedia is right, but Wikipedia probably isn't in Japan with Duck like Steve is.

RIP Duck! Such a distinctive sound and one of my first bass inspirations.

I'm gonna watch Blues Brothers right now. How depressing. I feel for Steve. I have a Thorn...GT 59 that looks like Steve's and has been named Cropper since Day one. It will be crying now for some time too

I will always remember him smoking that pipe while he played. The coolest bass man ever!
