Dumb DLS question

So I just got a Mk II last week and used it all weekend. Nice sounding pedal. I'm just curious if I'm using it wrong or something, though... seems that the volume jump I get from stomping the pedal is HUGE almost anywhere I set the preamp gain and master volume. Is this a pedal people usually just leave on and set the volume level there? Am I perhaps setting it up wrong?

I seem to remember having a similar issue with a Formula No. 5. Sounded awesome, but it was so loud it was practically unusable. It made a quiet amp so loud I may as well have just cranked up the amp.

Same here.

Compared to some of my other pedals my DLS isn't that loud at all.

So what are some sample settings some of y'all are using? I wish I could tweak more at home, but if I do I have a neighbor who will probably come upstairs and eat me.

i use it at 18volts... with the pedal volume knob at about 9 o'clock, it sounds at about unity volume to me. (other knobs somewhere around noon to 2 o'clock)

I use this pedal for 'bedroom kids asleep in the next room, 1AM' volume levels no problem. Unity for me is also around 10 or 11AM on the master volume. Same with my RAH.

Maybe I've got the fullness knob too pushing too much... hm. I was running with that most of the way up, presence at 0, preamp at 0. Using a Tele with a bright amp, and not wanting to melt too much face, that seemed to work best, but the master was barely at 9:00.

Tone - 10:00
Vol - 11:00
Gain - 2:30
Rock

With gain and vol set like that, there's a noticeable boost, not a makes-me-wanna-run-at-my-amp-to-turn-it-down boost
