DOD Phasor 201/MXR Phase 45 clones/alternatives!?

Looking for a nice 2 stage phaser. Got the chance of buying a blue Phasor 201 but the clock noise rendered it unusable, therefore I declined.

Any alternatives? I really don't wanna go through the hassle of modding an overpriced custom shop phase 45, and since I'm in Argentina, ordering this pedal from AM, for example, is a pita as well

thanks in advance

VFE Enterprise can be switched from 2, 3, and 4 stage. Get any MXR phase sound in one box!

Ok, sounds like a great option, thx for the suggestion.

Now, a very important question: how much distortion does it add when digging hard? As much as a standard phase 90 or less?

It's got a feedback control and an internal bias control. You can back off the peaks and valleys of the sweep which will make the effect a bit more subtle but also take some of the inherent P90 gain away. But, you can also emphasize this more if you want.

Well, I prefer OTA based phasers cause I just can't live with the added distortion of, let's say, a phase 90. However, the DOD Phasor 201 i tried had such a CHEWY sound to it that I just have to have it.

So, I'm checking some Enterprise videos right now. Cheking the Blackout Whetstone as well, it is OTA based and can be used as a 2 stage phaser...it might provide the necessary "chewyness"...we'll see

Any input on the VFE is greatly appreciated! The price tag seems logical given the flexibility it provides

Perhaps I should apologize in advance if I misspelled something, English is not my native language. Now, if I didn't misspell the word "chewy", allow me to avoid the never ending discussion regarding how we use words to describe sounds...it's way too subjective to properly analyze or even argue about it.

Some people might understand what I meant by "chewy" when referring to a phaser's sound, some people won't.

I completely get "chewy" for phasers; I think it's pretty widely accepted.

Breathily Say "high-igh-igh-igh-igh" and listen to how it sounds. That is what a good chewy phaser sounds like.

Try to find a Tone Factor/Mojo Hand Nebula; sadly they're out of production now, and while the next generation Nebula IV is sweet, it's a 4-stager YAP90. But those Nebulas from 2006-2011 are 100% golden 201/phase 45 2-stage righteousness, the ultimate chewiness (and yes I completely understand and agree that that term fits here). Best of luck!!

Yup, I know, I checked those out, but it will be hard for me to obtain one of the old 2-stages Nebulas...too bad they are using 4-stages nowadays

thx for the suggestion

Any clock noise issues? What about clipping?
