ipad 3.5 in vs 32pin microphone quality?JAM vs iXZ?

Hello

Looking at getting the outs from my rehearsal room desks (yamaha emx512), quarter inch or XLR jacks recording into the iPad. I read there is a quality difference between a split y cable into for the 3.5 compared to a JAM or something that else that goes into the 32pin input. was looking at the tascam iXZ but then heard about quality differences.

For rough recordings, will it matter that much in the end? What are my other 32pin options for iPad recording inputs?

Would also be cool to plug a mic directly into the iPad (NTG-2 (doesnt require phantom) ).

Options on JAM vs iXZ

In our experience there is a big difference in the sound quality available from the 3.5 vs the 30 pin (the 30 pin is superior based on our testing).

i think the headphone jack in has the same filter as the internal mics, chopping off everything below like 200Hz.

I bought the iRig for my iPad 2 a week ago. I took it back after reading reviews on the Apogee Jam and ordered the Jam. I can say without a doubt the sound quality is far superior through the 32 pin connector than the headphone jack. Well worth the extra $$$.
