Carr Slant 6V Speaker change.

Has anyone changed out the stock Kingpin 60 for another speaker and if so, what were your results?

I swapped out the Kinpins in my Slant 6V 2x12 for Greenbacks. I was also using a lower voltage rectifier.......5U4 as I recall. This rectifier combined with the less efficient GB speakers made it so I could get the amp to crunch on the clean channel and the gain channel sounded fantastic......more Marshally.

Thanks. Greenbacks are my first choice as well. Didn't think about the rectifier though.

Sometimes I'll run my Slant 6 into a bogner 2x12 with a greenback and a g12H. I'll also run it into a Dr.Z 4x10. Those two, as well as the stock kingpin in the 1x12 Slant 6 all sound great, just different. The 2x12 is a clearer, more bass heavy sound.

I've used my Boogie 2x12 with v30s and it sounds great. I just don't want to lug both to some gigs (getting too old/lazy).

I had a head box made for my Slant 6V so I could combo it or head/cab it.

Who did the head box for you? I spoke with Mike Carr about buying a box from him, but he really didn't want to do it. He wanted me to ship him the amp and he would make the change.

First off I changed the speaker in my 1x12 slant 6 to a vintage 30 and I like it alot better than the kingpin. I have a new head box that I have never used that is for sale if you want to email me .

There's a Carr Slant 6 head cabinet in the For Sale section right now.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm going to try the v30. I'll let you know what I think later.

I had the 6v head, and tried it with several set ups. I didn't like it with V30's at all. The Scumback green backs are awsome, but I liked the 6v with Weber 1230-55's best. I like the scumbacks the best with my new amp though.
