Marshall 1959HW and some friends....

Finally got my recording rack put together.

Now if I could only squeeze a 2x12 cab with some blues in there somewhere......

Sweet rig for sure but I'm not sure if I'd want to be doing any wah-wah-ing with that Marshall HW cranking.

Question: How does the Marshall stack up (no pun intended) against the Germino?

BTW, the HW cab is making me drool.

The Marshall sounds good at any volume and does different things along the way. At lower volumes it cleans up pretty well, but the bright cap is a bit too much in there for my taste. It's a 500pf I think.... I'm going to try a 100pf like the originals. At lower volumes it can get too bright... Don't know why they put that value in there.....

But....... like any good Marshall , it sounds better on "10" for sure...

Takes overdrive pedals exceptionally well, but not so much "distortion" pedals. Like my Keeley modded DS-1 gets a little over the top because the Marshall distorts on its own, so with a DS-1 it gets a little messy...

The Marshall and the Germino are really different. The Marshall is a 100 watter so it's got a lot of bite, grit and girth. The Germino is a 50 so it will sing a bit easier than the Marshall. Gotta have 'em both..............

Got to loose the Bright Cap. Once its gone Low Volume Schwaaallll is easy to obtain with a little help from a Pedal. Mine will sing for days at Low Volume. Still trying to break those speakers in. Gotta Love the HW Head & Cab though. Nothing like it and its a lot cheaper than purchasing an Amp that might be cobbled up on the inside and is 35 years old and gonna need some medical attention. Its Vintage Vibe in a can.

Like to hear that Germino.

Was it simply losing the bright cap that made the biggest change or was it adding back the resistor in the "Parkmod" that did it?

I'm thinking of just changing the bright cap to a 100pf instead of putting in the resistor. Aw hell, maybe I should just start experimenting.....
