Huber Jazzbox Project

Finally my Huber Jazzbox project starts to take shape!!:AOK

As you can imagine , I´m all exitement!!!:NUTS :NUTS

Hopefully this time at Frankfurt Musik Messe there will be another all new model in Nik´s production line.

Pictures:

In- and outside handcarved european spruce top./ AAA flamed neck

Solid flamed maple rims and inside carve of flamed maple back and spruce top.

Body/neck -setup / Backside of body

Control-setup; meanwhile changed to straight forward 5-way switch to control 2 pickups and 1 LR-Baggs Bridge. Only two pots ( Tone/Volume) with push/pull coilsplit-function.

Coming 'specially to the Messe to put his fingerprintz all over it so he can claim it fer' good!!

Can I humbly suggest a VIN+ bridge and an Alnico III P90HB for the neck?
There is a very happy italian player who has that very same combo on his ES175

frankly spoken I had this combination in mind; :AOK nevertheless a CT-HB- Vin should do at the bridge, don´t you think? I´m afraid the output of a Vin+ could be too much in combination with the P-90. Or would I miss the bridgepickup´s midrange then? What would you prefer? :NUTS

Harry can tweak the output of the VIN+ / P90HB combo so it sounds proper, at the end of the day what you'll install depends on what you want to hear and how you're going to treat your babe...
If you need something more traditional you could opt for a VIN Alnico II bridge.
The italian player is using his 175 with a Zappa group - he does from jazzrock to tradjazz with that very same combo. But then again tone is in the toes, so they say

Talked to Nik yesterday: We´re trying a P-90 at the neck and a HB-Vin at the bridge.

The hardware will be black; headstock (front and backside) , PU - rings and and tailpiece ebony.

Colorwise we try to go in the directon of an antique violin.

Now im VERY excited!!

Very nice indeed! I like the proportions a lot better than the PRS ones which seem too thick compared to the body size. What type of bracing is Nik using?

I also spoke to Nik at length yesterday about things. I had to get in line for one of these.

I already warned Nik that he was creating a monster!

No bracing at all. There will be only a soundpost like in a violin beneath the bridge. Since the body is not that big (the biggest distance between massive parts is about 10 to 12 cm ) and the top will be approx.7 mm at the skinniest point; so there is no need for extra stiffening . ( See PRS!) The spruce top is extremely tight grained so that it supports itself quite well.
BTW:Bigger and thinner tops nowadays sometimes get routed out of a massive block of wood (via CNC that is!) in one piece, the bracing already included! (e.g. Framus )

I was astonished myself when I saw a PRS Hollowbody for the first time.But it works extremely well, especially in respects of feedback!
My Höfners , which are built the "regular" way, are simply not usable at louder volume levels without stuffing them.

I hope the finished project will prove my hopes right....
I completely trust Nik in that .

I hate to disappoint you , my friend , but I´m afraid, I simply can´t tell the difference:
I tend to look for a lighter, more open tone, even in a jazz(y) guitar: so it will be the AlNiCo II I assume? :NUTS
