smoothest OD for a JTM45

Hi,

I'd like to add a smooth lead OD to my new JTM45.
I can't afford super-expensive pedals.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

PS: in my pedalboard there are two boosters, but no OD.

I use a mosferatu for my od needs with my JTM 45 combo the bluesbreaker...and I've got another mosferatu coming from bluesdoc...

It's trully a magical sounding pedal for me....can do low med to medium high gain really well, not 80's metal distortion though...works best with single coils IMO

I've got another hermida pedal, the grinder that do really high gain thingy, works well for me....

Hermida pedals seem to be overpriced these days since they're out of stock.
Bad Monkey is too cheap.

I'm thinking to Mi Audio Blues pro, Maxon OD808, A Fulltone FD2 used etc.

I dont' need a super clean and trasparent OD, I have my boosters for this, but a bit of compression and singing smooth leads.

Thanks.

got a fulldrive 2, quite good if you want mid heavy od...it is very2 smooth, but for chording it sounds a bit unnatural for me...

the TC jauernig DGTM has got a good smooth sound with some compression....

A Barber Direct Drive isn't too terribly costly and would fit your needs nicely

If $150 isn't too much, a Barber Small Fry will do what you want, plus, it's very versatile and can be used for other tones if your needs change.

Xotic BB Preamp is a great smooth OD pedal, especially if your amp is a little crunchy already.

Thanks a lot, nice suggestions.

What about Barber pedals for chords?

What's the difference between Maxon OD9 and OD808?

Thanks again.

I had a JTM45 head that I used to run through a Fender Tonemaster cab with Vintage 30s. It was a pretty nice rig I must say!

I did find it pretty picky with regard to pedals-just as picky as my Vox actually. I had reasonably good results with a Fulldrive II FM model so I'd say if you can get one used that'd be a good deal. They're versatile with the boost mode and the comp cut. Considering there's been the three toggle variety and the anniversary mosfet editions released since these were made I reckon you'll find one at a reasonable price.

If you have any left over cash try to get a used RC Booster too to add a little clip for chords.

There's a lot of other things that'd work well too like the Eternity as others have mentioned but I suspect the chance of finding one used and cheap maybe pretty small seeing as they're wait listed from the builder at the moment.

Good luck.
