Fender Classic Player Baja Telecaster

Now this looks interesting.
http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0141502389

I'm not too fond of the S-1 system, but the rest looks good. I may have to try one when they are released.

...it's beginning to sound like a "guitar de jure" situation with FMIC, ie: take a popular guitar out of the "pool" and announce it as a "new" model.

...what happened, to good-old-fashioned "base model" and "options?"

  • Custom Shop pickups
  • Different neck carve
  • S1 switch (phase)
YMMV (and probably will) but I'd rather have the Baja than the H1 depite the H1's MIA construction and nitro-finished body (but not neck). As soon as my pusher gets one in, I'm pulling the trigger on a Baja.

I played one at NAMM - but not plugged in. It was nice, but the shoulders on the neck were a bit big for me (I hate big shoulders). I think it's supposed to have a mild V neck, but it didn't seem that way to me.

And it seems like a good price until you realize that the American Series models were less than that just a few years ago.

Well, since the Fender's Mexican factory is located at Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, I'd think so.

You forgot the most important difference (IMO). The Baja has an ash body, while the Hwy1 has alder.
