Best non squishy compressor Poll

OK fellas, I've read through all the threads, and have owned the 2 knob Keeley Ross clone (ilchhh) and the Analogman mini bicomp (nice and definitely usable, but still a tad on the squishy side)...

So, this poll is limited to what appear to be the most highly recommended transparent compressors: Diamond, BJF Pine (Pale) Green, and Barber Tone Press. I want fullness and sustain for clean rhythms, and attack and sustain for use in soloing....

Please participate only if you have first hand experience with at least one, and feel free to add thoughts.

Let's see!

The most transparent compressor I have used/owned so far has been the Boss CS-3 I installed the T-Von mod in.

It would be interesting to try the BJF and the Diamond sometime, but from most people's descriptions they are on the subtle side.

I have had the Barber for almost 2 years now and I haven't looked for another comp in that time. The Barber can easily be set to not kill (squish) your attack and still achieve crazy long sustain, beautiful harmonics, controlled feedback, etc. It's a great unit, truly a bargain.

I voted for the Barber Tone Press. A lot of people complain that it isn't squishy enough, but it is. The internal trimpot works wonders and is often, sadly, overlooked!

I voted BJF, but feel the need to point out something. There aren't many Pale/Pine Greens in circulation when compared to something like the Tonepress. The registry shows 91 PGCs, so lets say there are around a hundred floating around, I'm sure there are many, many more of the Barber Compressor, thus more folks have experienced it and can offer an opinion about it. This will influence the poll results quite a bit.

Tea.

I generally don't need comp... but the PGC is different. I love it. Mine is blue.

My PGC does transparent, and it does squish too. I'm very happy with it.

The PGC is easily the best compressor I have used whether you want less squishy or not!!

I've also tried a Analogman Bi-Comp, Keeley & Diamond compressor (my 2nd favourate)!!
