Barber LTD and Eternity

I am looking for a low to low mid gain pedal for my board. I have heard great things about the Lovepedal Eternity and the Barber LTD. Are they similar or apples and oranges?

Apples and Oranges.

The LTD is a very good TS.

The Eternity is an entirely different beast - emphasis on beast. Do a search and you will find yourself with about 20 hours of reading describing the Eternity.

THe LTD is far from being a TS clone, I use the Silver LTD and it is very open sounding and no mid hump. The pedal sounds more like an amp on the verge of break up and then some!

I agree, the Silver LTD really is a great low OD pedal. In fact, team one up with a TS style pedal and they make a killer combo.

Silver LTD's my favorite Barber pedal.. A lo-medium gainer w/a flatter midrange response than the rest, but there's still a bit of a hump there. If there wasn't, it wouldn't be a Barber pedal.

I've got an E too. Great medium-hi gain OD, with perhaps a bit more flexibility than the LTD, but it's over twice the price, and getting one's not exactly a straightforward procedure.

Some people love a good mystery, but there's also something to be said for hitting the 'Buy-it-now' button and having it on your board three days later.

If Dave's stuff was double the cost & three times harder to get, there'd be a lot more "Barber" threads here on TPG..

Uh you're forgetting the goop and the fragile paint jobs. Theres gotta be tons of goop and paint chips.

Hey Dave!

My "TS" comment comes from 2 sources (both located between my ears...):

1) I owned both the Black and Silver LTD's (which I bought new and recieved within 3 days each from the wonderful folks at Pedal Geek - they rock!) - they both exhibited a mid-hump to my ears - which the TS, and lots and lots of other pedals, have popularized. I guess I group all pedals that have that "hump" as TS-type pedals. As far as the circuit, I am not a builder, and I have no idea if your circuit resembles an actual TS circuit in any way.

2) I have a somewhat vague recollection of a thread where you said that they were, in fact, based on a TS. If this is not, in fact, the case, I will respectfully, and with apologies, withdraw my earlier comment.

All that being said, I liked the Black version a little better than the Silver one - sounded a little more raw and rockin' to me. I have been thinking that I need to get myself another "mid-humpy" OD to compliment the my current line-up of OD's, and the Barber pedal is at the top of the list - just a great pedal at a great price. Since I already own an Eternity, I feel confident in my earlier assessment of the two pedals being "apples and oranges".

Now go ahead and beat me up some more....
