Is there a better buffer than the Axess BS-2?

I think I Need a buffer at the end of my signal chain. I've used a buddy's BS-2 a couple of times and it seemed OK. It has been known as about the best there is at what it does, but is there now a better signal buffer out there? This is the place to ask!:AOK

Thanks

-db

Well, I think the cornish is as good, they have slight differences, If I were to try and describe it would be the axess has a musical midrange where the cornish has a stronger low to mids. I'd be happy with either one.

I like the Barber Launch Pad as a signal buffer better than any dedicated buffer I've used / demo'd to date. I found the BS2 colored my tone too much for my tastes. The Launch Pad, with my pedalboard all bypassed and 40' of cable sounded and felt very much like 20' of cable stright into the amp. While it uses a 9vDC power supply (battery or external) it uses a voltage multiplier and operates internally at 24vDC. There's a ton of headroom - dynamics are very well preserved. If you're looking for a dedicated buffer you should definitely check the Launch Pad out.

The Launch Pad is great. Another option might be a dual-purpose ped like a MDEQ or MI Audio Buff-N-Boost (both have buffers when off).

But interesting...was just messing with buffers this evening. I've found that one channel of my Barge Concepts DB-2 boost, set to minimum, makes my long signal chain sound so close to being directly plugged in.

BTW, I plug the guitar into this pedal, put all my FX in its loop, and out of the DB-2 into the amp (boost/buffer at the beginning and end of teh chain. A steal of a pedal at $99.

I recently ordered a Doobtone micro buffer. Ill have to see how effective it is in driving long runs of cable and effects.

I found the Axess BS2 sounds best at the beginning of my pedalchain right after the wah pedal.

I did not like the way it sounded at the end.

try it at the beginning, you could be surprised.

I just bought two buffers. The Masotti blackbox and the Masotti Whitebox.
I use the last one as last in chain before hitting the amp and it has a boost.

Better? Dunno.....it sounds good!

Siegmund Missing Link... Micro Tube + Volume + Tone + highest quality parts, design & craftsmanship = delicious!

I had a BS2 & it was very good. Then I got a VHT Valvulator I & it was a bit better. The Missing Link is the best for my needs and tastes.
