Need Sony MDR7506 headphone repair advice

I'm in New York City, and I have a pair of Sony MDR7506's that need to be checked out. The stereo image and bass response sounds uneven; there's also slight distortion in one side depending on the frequency range and panning of sounds.

I checked out Sony's website, but I can't seem to easily access info on service and repair. Any advice?

Thanks!!

Could be the cable. Do you have a studio tech you're friendly with?

Come to think of it, I have a studio tech I've used for years, and when the AKG K270S Studio headphones hanging in my recording booth for the talent broke, his advice was:

Get another pair of headphones.

L,
I have a great guitar tech, but I didn't think to ask him about them. As far as replacing them- you might be right! I was reading the other threads about the Grados, and thought maybe I'd try them for occasional mixing; my Sonys will still work as-is for tracking an instrument.

I found the sony's a nightmare to service. At this point, if they break, they go in the trash.

Your problem is likely too minor to be easy to fix. Could be a cable or any number of things causing those problems. I see a new pair in your future.

I'd plan on buying a new pair of cans but I'd also disassemble the Sony's and buy a pair of shooting earmuffs or other high attenuation headphones. I'd then put the Sony drivers in them and make a pair of isolation cans for tracking drums or finding the sweet spot on loud guitar cabs. Because I've always wanted to do that and I'm too cheap to carve up a perfectly good pair of Sony's

Thanks for the input, guys. They're still ok for tracking, so I'll think I'll try something else for my mixing.
