i really dig the newport pros for classic rock and beyond. i have 3 now and i couldn't ask for a better sounding or playing guitar. at stage volume they really sing and play themselves. the artist mahogany hamers are a close second. the late 90's phantoms are killer too and are usually a steal price-wise. 1 humbucker, 1 single coil wedged together. yum.

FWIW, isn't there a 3 P90 Korina out there for sale right now?

My favorite Hamer is my orange sparkle Newport with the Bigsby and the Phat Cats. I've tried other Hamers and they just don't do it for me. My Newport is definately a guitar I would not part with.

I have had a 94 or 5 Studio Deluxe with Hums and the 59 flametop, a Green Daytona, an early 80's Vector and a Special FM. I liked the Special the best by far even though it was the least pretty. I like ugly guitars!

My brother's Korina Artist HB is one of the finest guitars I've ever played.

Hamer Studio for me. The only thing I don't like is that I only have 1.

Either one you are looking at will be great. I just comes down to single or double cut.

Hamer's are consistently well made, and their QC is right up there with PRS

I have a few. The orange Newport with Phat Cats and a Bigsby may be my favorite though. So much so that I'd consider getting a Newport Pro.

I would like to try the Monaco Elite and SuperPro, and the Korina Jrs have a lot of mojo for lots of folks.

My favorite Hamers are the old '70s Sunbursts with the Sustain Block bridges, from the Arlington Heights factory.

If I was going to buy a current USA Hamer, I'd probably get one of their Korina Junior knockoffs.

Ha! That's an insult to Hamer, just look at the detail work around the string nut compared to a PRS... not even in the same universe. But then again, PRS is making 20 times more guitars a day than Hamer so I guess it makes sense.

My Korina artist continues to amaze me each time I take it out on a gig. My McCarty is nice, but it's a Corvette to Hamer's Maserati.

My monaco elite is my #1...I installed a set of WCR Crossroad pups which really opened it up. Buy used if you can, someday the secret will get out and they won't be so reasonable.

My current fav is an '82 amber sustain block special. I've owned a bunch of them though and each is a fav for one reason or another :AOK

My Korina Vanguard -- now known as the Korina Artist, but they were released as the Vanguard. Mine was one of the first ones built that Hamer took around to dealers to place initial orders. It's a very cool guitar.

I also used to have an Eclipse 12-string that sounded great, but was a little neck heavy.
