Has anyone tried one of these? I can't seem to find a demo online...

I have one. It sounds great for swampy type slower stuff. Not the thing for U2 style delay.
On the plus side it has a volume control which is really nice...perfefct for pushing the amp a bit. And the super cool thing is the secoond switch( i cant remember what they call it) that sends the thing into self oscillation until you release it...then it boomerangs back to normal. Hard to explain but super cool...not neccesarily super useful...but super cool. The reason I moved on from the Mr.Echo as my main delay though is that it is pretty muddy on anything but slow clean stuff and it has started to have an intermitent buzz. But I keep it on the family because I know one day I will want to use the bomerang thing in the studio! |

I have one and use it all the time.
That said, it is a finicky little bugger, and SIB is not an easy company to track down. I finally did, I have the service guy's cell number, and I've had to mail it to him twice, once to re-do the battery connection, once to replace the footswitch, which he has done quickly and for free, so it all balances out, for me. I really do like the pedal a lot. |

Yes Indeed . . .
I don't use delay or reverb much, but wanted something to give me ambience.
i HAVE THE mR. eCHO AND it's great and sounds very natural, analogish. AND - it has a blend control. With it's small footprint, it licked (yes, that's licked) my H20 off my board and onto eBay. Try it - you'll like it; and if you don't like it, you could sell it for close to what you pay for it (not a bad trade-off for trying something out). "The sign of a good player is knowing when to lay out, and how to support the other players when it's their turn to blow. This is #1 on my list when I play with anyone. Listen!" |

Had one before, liked the sound for ambience/slap back. But keeping it working was another issue. Mucho problemos from the second time I used it. I would recommend checking out the Jacques Prisoner.

Great pedal, but mine had switch problems. Sent it in and got it fixed, and a few months later.....switch problems.
Haven't decided wether to send it in again... |

You should check out the SIB Echodrive. Coolest damn echo ever. Even the red (digital) one. It won't do US-type stuff, but it's fantastic for everything else. One of my fave pedals EVER.

Both the Mr Echo and the Echodrive pedals are some of the highest quality and best sounding pedals around. Also, Rick over at SIB is just one of the easiest guys to deal with. Broken switches are a PITA but unfortunately ending up with a bad run is luck of the draw from a manufacturing standpoint. I had an original analog echodrive that died, turns out it was the tranny inside it and Rick replaced it no charge, and the pedal had been around already for a good 7 years, that's backing up your product. He is coming out with the Mr Echo plus soon and that will be a tiny bit bigger, but have an expression pedal input on it,

I'd second both the Mr. Echo and the Echodrive. I had a Mr. Echo for quite a while, and it seemed to hold up pretty well, but then again I babied my pedalboard - even on gig nights, so take that FWIW. I did have a few buzzing and popping issues that were solved by some simple tinkering with the jacks, and other than that it held up just fine. Sounded really nice for what I did with it - pretty much left it on to add some space with a Vox that didn't have reverb. Used the Slam switch on occasion with gratifying results though it was mostly for fun noodling around by myself.
One of my friends I jam with on a regular has an Echodrive and it seemed to sound better and hold up better than my Mr. Echo. Never had any problems with it reliability wise, and if you need a longer, more rhythmic delay I'd definitely check it out. One thing I definitely noticed was that the Echodrive was studio-quality silent - it added NO noise of its own to the sound. Of course that quiet and extra delay time costs, so you have to figure out if it's worth it... |
