Two Rock RUBY
Any love for the Two Rock RUBY?
What a killer amp! It's got such wonderful, warm, singing tone...I am really digging the no reverb thing!

I've got plenty of luv for my Ruby.It sits on an early 80's 212 Marshall cab w/Celestion G12-65's.Clean to mean all with the guitar's volume knob indeed.
If I remember correctly there were only about 40 built.Mine is an 12/18 watt model.

Wow that is a beautiful picture!
Enough tone there to last a lifetime. :AOK Did you score the RUBY 12/18 that was recently for sale here on TGP? If you ever decide to sell it let me know. I think the RUBY mught be Two Rock's best kept secret!

I played a prototype and wasn't impressed with it. The wood express/liverpool clones that pop up from that "I cant tell you who made it" builder are actually much nicer (played one recently at action music in Arlington VA.) I really prefer the CR/OVerdrive Sig over this design and compared to other trainwreck clones.

I had an EL34 Ruby head and highly disliked it...On the other hand, I owned a Two Rock LTD that I loved, as well as a Two Rock Emerald 50 that I play now and love that as well

ahhh, the little 12/18 Ruby was quite fun. I bought and sold it twice and was contemplating a third. It was just a bit loud for most of my needs, and I've been using less and less gain. But still a great amp...

Actually I bought the last brand new Ruby from Mid Town Music.I have not played the EL-34 version but,I can say the EL-84 18 watter is a great sounding amp with great detail. It is a much higher gain amp than I normally use.The gain never goes past 9 oclock. It is also the loudest 18 watter I've ever heard.Sounds more like 30 watts or so.I think there were only 12 built that were 18 watts.I've played a few other T'Wreck clones and this is the best one I've played.Of coarse others may prefer and different clone. This amp is staying put. |

Had a Ruby for about a year. Lots of fun. I found playing with it was kind of like playing with a firehose. Lotsa power/gain there...

The Ruby has a fast response.
It's not as "spongy" sounding/feeling as the other Two Rocks I have owned...but it still sings like crazy when you dial it in right! I am still loving this circuit without any reverb...it's just tone!

I had one as well. I loved it!!! It was too much Volume for most gigs I did back then, but I wish I had it now. I have been able to play much louder as of late. I put a 5751 in V1 and played Jato's Suhr and it was a low gain delight!!!!
I used a PRS AT spruce, and I could get controlled feedback all day. |

I am running my Ruby into the cab speaker of my Bogner Shiva 1x12 combo.
It sounds killer! Playing a PRS Swamp Ash Special through it and it's all about the tone zone.:AOK

The ported Shiva cab would be a cool small rig with the Ruby! Great idea.

I bought and sold the last one that came up here. I thought I remembered some clean headroom.
I was wrong. For 18 watts that thing was scary loud. Fun but I think flamethrower is the right name.

I loved the one I heard; might not be for everyone, in view of how gainy it gets, but for the right player, it's quite cool.
