Semihollow PRS single cuts

Anyone else checked out the semihollow PRS singlecuts?

http://www.martinmusicguitar.com/pro...0207&pid=17720

I was in Memphis over the holidays and discovered these at Martin music.

I'm a big fan of the Gibson "Cloud 9" LPs and would love to add one of these to my collection, but my finances are in no shape for it.

They are also available at Magdon music and Chuck's (Washington Music Center) in Maryland.

Maybe next year if there are still any left,I'll get me one.

Got one! #1 of the series, the prototype, picked it up from Jack Gretz at Magdon music. Great guitar, super light and amazing tone. 10 top, brazilian board, #7's, mixed hardware, locking tuners.

That's pretty neat.

I hear PRS uses the same Pixie Dust as Gibson!

Well, it's not actually the same pixie dust - the problem is Gibson claims that most people wouldn't be able to differentiate between their pixie dust and PRS' pixie dust...

That would be sweet. Add a spruce top and I'm there.

That looks KILLER!!!!

How's it sound compared to a solid-body singlecut?

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the guitar.

The big difference between the solid and semi hollow SC is in note articulation, attack, sustain and harmonics. Pinch harmonics seem easier to nail, there is more chordal roundness and detail, the guitar is a little more punchy, and of course it sustains for a very long time. The best thing is, it is only a little over 7 lbs. which makes it very comfortable.

The braz boards on these guitars are really killer, most have premo 10 grade tops as well.

I played 3 of them at Martin on Saturday. All great but they did vary in weight and tone. Definitely worthy of consideration in the single cut arena.

Then, of course, they had to hand me that damn Collings I-35 and recalibrate my guitar sense.

Now that I've had time to consider things, I still like the semi-hollow single cuts but I think I'll save my money for something way more special.
