Teese Picture Wah Volume Boost?

I just got a Teese Picture wah about a month ago, and while the wah sounds absolutely fantastic, theres one thing that's been kind of ticking me off. Whenever I go to kick it on during a solo or something...it boosts my volume, ALOT. Like to the point that during recording, I overpower some of the other bandmates.

I run my effects like : Teese Pic Wah ==> Fulltone Fulldrive II ==> RC Booster.

I'm wondering if maybe it's the order of my effects, or is it something else.

Anyone have some answers?

Thanks in advance.

That is weird. My Pic wah does not boost the signal. If it is boosting the signal it is a very small amount. Hope this does not sound bad, but are you sure it is a Pic Wah and not a RMC-1 which definitely boosts the signal? If it is a pic wah maybe try contacting Geoffrey Teese and see if there is an internal adjustment to lower the signal boost or if there is something wrong with the pedal.

If it's the new version with fuzz friendly technology, there should be a small internal pot to adjust the boost. My old pre fuzz friendly Pic did boost the signal a bit, but not enough to overpower the band.

mine does. It has the foxrox retro fit buffer thingy. I will check for an internal pot.

I recently sold my original Picture Wah to upgrade to the new version (with the new buffer). I don't think the previous version had any volume boost at all...it was perfect to transition into and out of the wah.

The new version does have a slight volume boost using the default setting, but I turned down the internal pot one notch (a very small adjustment), and it took care of it.

I just emailed Geoffrey,

Any chance anyone could point out what the internal trim looks like? I'm having trouble locating it, if mine has one.

Mine definitely DOES NOT boost the volume and that is one of the reasons I like it so much...

do you have the FoxRox Buffer? The trim pot is that little blue box with the white circle...

It's difficult to determine the difference between unity gain and boost on wahs because of the perceived volume of the frequencies that the wah boosts/sweeps across. Just gently tweak it until you're happy with what you hear. I currently have mine set for a SLIGHT boost, and I just roll back the guitar volume if it overpowers my band. I'd rather have the ability to cut through than not at all. Also, I assume you could use a clean boost paired up with it.

I had the Picture and the Wizard, both did the volume boost thing. I have a RMC3 now, the one with the dips. I am now in charge.

I don't know if mine has that little red/orange rubber looking thing, but I definately have that blue box with the little knob inside it.

I'll play around with that next time I'm at the rehersal studio.

Will see what Geoffrey says too...I told him my serial number so maybe he'll let me know if mine has the buffer or not.

Thanks guys!

well, it could be wrapped in another color shrink wrap. Mine is black. Either way, if it looks REMOTELY like that picture, you have it. If you bought it new in October 2006 or after, it most likely has the buffer.

Well I bought mine just this December, but it doesn't look like I have the Foxrox, but I do have the trimpot....it's located on the board though.
