Hendrix and the Dean Markley String thing.

Just a question to all of you Hendrix heads out there...............

Did Jimi use Dean Markeley Strings? :NUTS

...............Cause there is a HUGE ad promo in the new guitar world.

Its even quoting his lyrics eluding to the corrolation of the Dean Markleys.

I am just posting for my own curiostiy. Everything i have ever read said that he used the original Fenders, and even an oddball thow out for the high E (A banjo string I think)
If he did use the Markleys, thats coll and fine, I just want to know if he did.
Thanks all,
Mass

Haven't seen the Dean markley ad.I don't believe Markley came in to the picture until long after Jimi Died. I will tell you this.Jimi probably did like the rest of us did back then.Buy what ya could.Fender,Black Diamond,Ernie Ball, and I believe Darco Funky's??? For example,Manny's has a picture of a receipt where Jimi purchased several sets of Ernie Ball strings .WE have it easy today.. I remember re-tie'n strings to get through the gig..
Edit...EB in the Manny's receipt could have been Elixir-or(MS) brand strings..It was brought to my attention JH endorded said brand prior to the Fender thing.IIRC And yes I could be wrong all the way around..

After extensive research, company president Dean Markley and his staff were able to determine with some certainty that Hendrix played different types of strings at different points in his career. Using the knowledge gained from their research, folding in decades of string winding expertise, and employing some fact-based imagination and extrapolation, the engineers at Markley have developed two types of Jimi Hendrix strings, both of which deliver the string qualities the guitarist would look for were he playing today.

OK..............Now I get it.
They developed the strings that they believe Jimi would like to use, were he alive today, as I have embolded from the Dean Markeley site.
Well, that about clears it up.
All the best,
Mass

And with some careful research I can tell you what shampoo he would be using today. But to find out it'll cost you. :AOK

Why can't they just let Jimi rest?

Oh I hear you man!!!!
In Fact, one day about a year ago I was sitting in a doctors office, waiting for an appoitment.
While reading a magazine I found an AD with Jimi endorsing Hewlett Packard. I ripped it out and put it away in my pocket................Just in case nobody believed me.
It really is all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$.
I was trying to figure out the connection between Jimi and Hewlett Packard. After that I realized that sonn he would wind up endorsing oatmeal and SUV's...........
All the best,
Mass
