Ultra Transparent Wah...Something better Than Fulltone Clyde Deluxe?

Yo Peeps,

I have a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah and it seems to dirty up a lot of the time. I have a Fender DRRI w/an Alltone speaker so the power is fine.

My question is:
1. Anyone else have this experience? Is it the vintage sound that sounds gritty? Almost overdriven?
2. Is there a better (ultra transparent) wah pedal out there? Not necessarily smoother sounding, but less dirt in the wah movements?

Thanks!
Mike.

the zvex wah probe is pretty clean sounding, when playing with a clean amp.

I'm looking for normal clean wah sound without the grittiness of the Cylde Deluxe I have now. I really dig the tones that Trey Anastasio gets out his Teese RMC 3, but I could never coax them out of mine that I used to have.

Who knows!

volume knob that shiznit. The RMC picture wah has that vintage growl that you speak of. I have my amp set on the verge of breaking up and I just roll the volume knob on my guitar back ever so slightly.

EDIT: Does the fulltone have some kind of output trimpot inside? That may help.

I think it does and I may need some guidance with that...Anyone know anything about the in-erds of the Clyde Deluxe?

Thanks a Bunch!
Mike.

Funny, Trower's Clyde Deluxe is anything but gritty.
Maybe something's not functioning correctly?

I thing I may just need to check out the inside of the wah. Anyone know if there is an internal volume pot?

Thanks!

Here you go, from the manual;

INSIDE THE PEDAL,

"Internal Resonance Control: there is an adjustable trimmer inside that lets you change the gain and bottom-end response...it is located on the PCB. Set the trimmer to 2 o'clock, that's a stock '60's vox sound. Turning the trimmer clockwise gets more gain and bass"

ALSO, ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PEDAL,

"Adjustable Gain Control; allows the user to not only fine tune the desired volume level, but to also overdrive the wah a bit for more overtones and grit."
Clockwise - more volume and grit, Counter-clockwise - less volume and grit

hope this helps,

cheers

Since I can hark back to the halcyon days of the 60s with wahs...(old, old, old!)...

Most vintage style wahs give you grit. The newer crybaby wahs have less of it, if that's where you want to go. I much prefer the grit, which is why I sold my 535Q!

Transparent wah is an oxymoron. What would a wah that didn't color your tone sound like?

If you can find one, the old Mu-tron Vol/Wah's use a led light and photo receptor instead of the traditional pots found in most wahs to control the sweep. As a result, it's a very cool, clean sounding wah with a very wide throw. It's not particularly warm, but the flangey overtones, lack of scratch and the incredibly broad range in the sweep make it my favorite non-gritty wah pedal ever.

Isn't that Mu-tron the wah that Carlos Santana uses?
