RIPPAH Q-WAH .... used for the first time on the gig tonight ..
It's smokes all of my last 5 wah pedals which include the Deluxe, Vox, Ernie Ball, Crybaby and Buddha..

I can't tell you guys how good this pedal is .... and it's capable of 6 variations ...!!

I had a similar exoerience.
In the end though no matter how I adjusted it, trim pot, travel, guitar/ amp adjustments I could not get the Deluxe to work for me.
I spent over a year with it trying to like it but to no avail.

Now I'm happy with my Picture Wah and my Vox.
I will end up with an Area 51 too as everytime I've heard one I liked the sound very much.

I am having similar issues with my Clyde Deluxe, right out of the box it started to distorted my tone/speakers in a very un-musical way. I am powering it with a Furman SP8 Stero Pedal Board with power conditioner . I have also tried adjusting the trim pots with no luck, I am looking to repalce it with someting vintage sounding. Something similar to Hendrix and SRV wah tone. Any suggestions?

I recently picked up a Vision Wah Special (Roger Mayer) and it is very transparent.

Area51 wah with all the modifications. You can set it up so that it's allmost a guitars' tone knob; no quack & no grit.

Just a quick update. Didn't realize my post was still kickin' around. I've been very happily married to my Wilson Rippah Q wah for the last 6 months or so... I've tried many many wahs and came to the fork in the road with the Rippah Q. If you are interested in something special, I suggest you check Wilson Effects out. Kevin is a wonderful pedal maker and person...not dogging any other Wahs out there...it's just nice to finally find a home base as far as tone goes. It's been a long haul and the Rippah Q did a wonderful job on my record I just finished with Mark Howard (U2, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits) as he's got rather good ears... Sounded great!

Yes, I've heard of this...all wah's have problems with crappy power supplies.
Look, if a power supply is noisy (un-regulated hum) or one of these pc of shit daisy chain cheapies that allows one effect to infect another (non- discrete outputs) do you blame the microphone, effect, or other device for picking up that crap?

No, you get a real power supply.

My RMC Picture wah stays on the shelf for this very same reason, it is to gritty for playing clean. Sounds good with already distorting amp. Does not work well with clean tube amp almost on the edge.
My Clyde deluxe works much better but I have not found the Holy grail in search for the greatest clean soul wah pedal on the planet.

All these wahs, Clyde, Teese, Budda, Wilson, are very similar circuits to the old vox clyde McCoy, and all of them are supposed to work well with a clean amp. I would say the same is true for Morle-type circuits too (including the ZVex wah)...

Love the TDK. My modded TDK crybaby punches and stings like no other. Supposedly SRV liked the red cube as well. I'd drop that fasel board into a wah that truly sucks, like a Chinese Vox V847

I'll have to give this a try too. I like my Deluxe, but it's never quite got the tone for funk that I like.

Have you considered a digital wah like the Boss?
