Anyone build a Warmoth Les Paul?

I know the quality of there parts are great as I've built a strat and tele from them, but I'm wondering about the tonal qualities of Les Paul. Do they have the qualities that the Pauls are known for? Sustain, nice midrange, etc, or does the bolt on neck screw it up?

Your thoughts are appreciated, oh and pictures are always good too

...a buddy of mine has the whole "kit" body and neck but never completed building it (so far).

...years ago, I built a Tele from their parts with decent results.

A customer of mine built a Warmoth LP. It was a bit of a different animal than a real LP, but I liked it quite a bit (and I hate les pauls).

My cousin built one, looks fantastic, but the non-tilted neck makes for high action, even with the bridge screwed all the way down. a dead fret up there near the 20th fret on bends, but reach was a bit better than set necks. IMO, if done properly, you COULD make them great guitars. it'd take some work though.

I think it is because people don't want to make a bolt on LP

A bolt on Les paul style with a non angled maple neck? You'd have to use a hipshot or strat hardtail bridge.

I'm pretty sure they have an angle in the design for use with their necks.

I do believe Warmoth offers an angled neck pocket of some sort or something like that now. Check into it. I've built a Warmoth Tele which somehow kills most Teles out there... says myself and a couple of my pro guitar player buds. I think you could do a pretty happenin LP.

They are most definitely designed for tune-o-matic/stop tail bridge. And neck angle can always be easily changed with shims or some careful woodwork. Try THAT with a set-neck.

I have read good things about Warmoth parts-o-pauls on this board:
http://p102.ezboard.com/Unofficial-W...fficialwarmoth

Besides, having bolts in the neck can be a good thing. Just ask this guy:

Hee hee hee!

warmoth has a discussion board on their website where you can get more feedback from builders. if you get a carve top, you are limited to gibson type bridges or floating trems, and an angled neck pocket. . if you go with a flat top you can have angled neck pocket for gison type bridges, or flat for fender type bridges

I don't think anything negative about bolt on necks. My Anderson and Lentz sustain as well as any set neck.
I've been looking at having assembled a hollow L5S from Warmoth. Seriously thinking about it. I'll chack out the warmoth forum also.
