Thanks Luke!! That's an amp made by a Local builder. It's amazing - very true to a vintage JTM45 - except for the tolex that is - it's a buddy's amp. Site is below

That one is special - I think it was Hogy's personal amp at one time and Ken had it as well - please correct me if I have the story wrong.

I would have held on to that one....

Well whomever owned it, I played it Friday afternoon and it is killer. Tried it through a Matchless cab and was ok, through a 4x12 Bogner straight loaded with vintage 30s, it was spectacular. Loud, but spectacular. I have no idea how much this one would go for, but it was an amazing experience. It is one of those amp that you find yourself going for it immediately in your playing, you get lead tones that good.

good to see folks enjoying the komets
Glad to know we got some first hand knowledge direct from Ken instead of BS speculation. Constellations are killer amps and don't need any tweaking by anyone to sound great.

And Hogy told me about that amp years ago when we were working on a deal years ago to trade some PAF's for it. It also does not have a footswitchable 12AX7 lead channel unlike most of the Connies.

Hopefully you weren't intimating I was spreading a BS story Chuck.:NUTS

Ok - that's cool. I was wondering if it was that particular amp and it appears it was.

Apparently the FS is in there, but was not hooked up. I have a forum friend who knows amps, and this is what he told me.

It's also unique, in that it has a switchable Tube/SS rectifier.

Too bad they all don't come with the rectifier switch. Does it give the amp more headroom?

i didn't compare them in terms of headroom, but it does what you expect: a little quicker/tighter in SS mode...
