The FedEx truck arrived last night.. Which really surprised me, because I had only talked to Ms. Clark on Thursday afternoon, and it was shipped ground. The amp was packed to survive a war, and everything arrived in perfect shape. I had planned to be good and burn in the speakers for a while, but instead I decided to play it at low volumes and check it out.
The Beaufort is as close as I have ever heard to a real classic tweed deluxe. It has a sweet, worn-in and natural tone - it just "feels" right, sort of like an amp you have been playing for years, only newer. The blue Celestion will need some time before it loosens up, but it sounded very even, harmonic, and vocal. What really stood out is how "vintage" and milky the two sounded together. I was expecting a glassy, more sterile sound until break-in, but was happy to find only a nice rich tone. I was hoping it would be quiet and it is. Next to playing through a power amp, I seriously doubt you could get much quieter. The craftsmanship is top notch - much better than other clones I have seen, or most originals for that matter. The amp looks the part and sounds the part. This is an amp that would stand out in a crowd of tweed clones as having that old-style "mojo". I'm very happy with it and don't think I would change a thing. Well, there is one thing I might change. It came with a long (reeeally long) power cable. I guess Mr. Clark wanted to make sure you never came up short. It might come in handy, and it's a beefy nice cable. But, I could see myself shortening it (maybe in half) at some point. Other than that, everything is absolutely perfect. I noticed after playing it for hours, that the attenuator was preset to -3. I'm going to try the different settings and see how it goes. |

You are truly a lucky man who is living right and I’m jealous as jealous can be, but my day is coming. I have a Kendrick Roughneck tweed, Mesa Blue Angel 4X10, Fender Blues junior and they are all on the chopping block for a Beaufort.

I had one for a short time. I sent it back to get a Tyger. I needed more
headroom. I still use the Tyger everyday. What a sweet sounding amp. I wish I had kept the Beaufort too but $$$$$$$$ dictated otherwise. Enjoy your new amp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did you order it? I have one (my second; my fifth Clark overall) on order, too, and just want to see how much of a wait I'm in for with Mike's current workload.
Thanks. |

The Clark Beaufort is THE best tweed deluxe around, IMO, of course. Lots of clones, but the Clark is a work of art. Enjoy!!

I've loved every Clark amp I've heard.
Is your Piedmont fully loaded with Reverb too? He is one of the view to lacquer the box as well. Best, Pete.

Congrats on a great amp! Speaking of that cord ... the power cord on my Clark Tyger is quite long. Man, it comes in handy on gigs. As does the tone of this baby. It's my first Clark, but will not be my last. I would so like to hear his take on the tweed pro ...

LOVE my Beaufort. I got it 3 months ago and it has totally recalibrated my view on what a great amp is. Mine also has the reverb and it is sooooo nice!

Well, it's been 2 years and a month since I posted this... And, I still love this amp. It is amazing how easily this thing has blended into my setup and still delivers a great tone everytime I fire it up. Hats off to Clark! Certain rare things in life just work...

I have one of these coming in the next few days. I've tried one before, right next to a real '55 Deluxe, and there was no real discernable difference in tone (did the test blind). can't wait to fire it up w/ the Nocaster or R0.
