Gig bag for a 335? Suggestions?

Help! I need a gig bag quick for my 335... and I'm willing to pay for a good one. Anyone know who makes a good one?

Don't do it! Unless I needed to carry it on my back on a motorcycle or something, I don't think I'd ever put a semi-hollow in a gigbag, they are pretty fragile - especially a real 335! Gigbags give a false sense of security IMHO...you could get a hardshell case for a 335 for less than $100.

Other than that, I'd get something very heavy duty canvas with thick padding, like one of these maybe:

Meterman, I hear ya, but I'm going to fly with it, and southwest is pretty cool about carry-on guitars, so I want something that will fit in an overhead or hang in the closet....

when I do use a gig bag for my 335, it's a Reunion Blues Cordura I've had since '98, still looks new... but... if I did it again, I'd spring for the extra $$ and get the leather one, even more durable. The 335 usually goes in a hard case but the RB bag is quality stuff, tho it's a made in USA model, now they're done overseas.

A 335 will fit in the overhead of a Southwest airplane in a hard case. I've done both gig bag and hard with no probs.

Brian, that's great news! I was wondering about that...if a hardshell will work, maybe I'll just go that route. But it would be nice to have a softshell case just for travel on planes, so I could back-pack it through the airport... Have you been OK flying with the 335 in the gigbag?

I havent had any problems but I do watch very carefully when/if somebody else is putting anything into the same overhead where my guitar is.

I agree the bag is easier to carry but I've also carried a 16" archtop in a hard case as well and put it in the overhead. Just make sure that you're not on an "XYZ Express" airline. They'd be flying smaller aircraft and the case wouldn't fit. You can call the airline and find out in advance what airplane type is on a flight. In the case of Southwest, all they have are 737s which are fine.

I have to chime in here - you are going to get that one flight where it's your guitar or some lady's louis vuitton & you'll lose. es.pecially on southworst.

I fly with a tele & i even though it is a 66 i know it can take some beating - especially with the incase gig bag. I sometimes ride my motorcycle with it too...
