Pick Preferences

What does everyone prefer as far as pick choices? I've been using the purple Dunlop picks for a few years but decided to give the Dunlop Jazz III (black) a try for a few weeks but ditched those before the second set of last nights gig and went back to purple. What do you like and why?

there was a fairly extensive thread on this a few weeks back. I suggest a search.

I've been using a DAVA Rock Control Celluloid.

http://davapick.com/4pick.php

I've also just ordered the DAVA Control's and the Rock Control with a Delrin tip. All work on the same principle. Thick at the end more flexible in the middle.

Has an indentation and ridges to help keep it in my hand.

Depending on how you hold it will behave like either a thick pick or a thin pick.

I was using the really heavy purple Big Stubbies which were great for playing single notes fast but not always so good for playing full chords depending on the technique I was using. I also tried a horn pick which I liked even better than the Big Stubby but once again not so good for chords at times.

The Dava Cellulloid seems like a nice compromise pick with a range as to how it can be used.

Been reading one of those guitar mags? I bought some Jazz III reds today (no blacks in the store) to try I think because of Guitar Player or Guitar One had a write up. Anyway, I really like the pick. I had been using purple stubbys, but the reds just seem so much lighter. Weird, I wouldn't have even thought of it years ago, but there seems to be difference when I play.

I also love the Dava picks. The green ones on electric, the Dava Grip Tip for acoustic.

Perfect pick for me, big enough not to fall out of my hands like the smaller Jazz picks do, nice rosen-y dull finish which makes them nice'n grippy, and just thick enough to be more or less inflexible, but not so thick that it forces my technique to work around the pick.
