SoCal cool amp alert
Wandered into the South Bay GC this evening. They appear to be holding a Bruno Underground 30 hostage - most unexpected development.
I don't know my Brunos so I have no idea of the version, but I can attest that it is cocoa brown, deliciously touch-sensitive, and loud as hell :AOK |

You might think, but I've never seen a Mesa at that GC location... other than the used Mark model that's been there since November

Did you check out the 600? I know you've been GASsing for a small amp -- is this it, or are you still holding out for mayber the PV tiny Satch amp? c |

In all honesty I'm pretty well set with the '66 Jet, but I like small amps in principle and want them all to be great.
My first impression of the L'il Champ: visual treat, aural letdown. Full disclosure: I only had a few minutes to spare and only tried it with a strat, so the jury's still out, but it's a very quiet five watts. Like, REALLY quiet enough for a bedroom, and virtually no signal until about 3 on the dial ![]() Pleasant enough cleans, but nothing resembling pleasant breakup with the strat (Classic Player 50s, with admittedly low-output 57/62 pups). Looking forward to giving it another try when I've got a little more time to noodle. |

Yeah, that '66 Jet is sweet.
I had that "undeniable GAS" for the 600, which made me pause and wait -- I usually regret those purchases. The local GC here in Charlotte still does not have it, but I am curious as to how it willsound with a Gibson --- ala 50's guys overdriving the amps with their pickups when Rn'R was invented. The clean sounds it gives is another plus for me though -- I've been looking for a sparkly clean amp. c |

I don't think even a UG30 could get me into that GC. I soooo detest that place, starting with the auditory assault as soon as you walk in...
Anyway, how many million did they want for the Bruno? Killer amp, huh?! Very, very fine, refined tone to be sure... |

It's not quite so bad at mid-day.I don't know what the going rate would actually be, but they didn't seem terribly out of line. Two grand-ish? Compared to the beat-up Silverface Vibro Champ for $699 or whatever it looks like a bargain (but then I've always suspected that champ is there to make ALL the other amps look like bargains...) |
