Gretsch Billy Bo?

I have read the reviews on HC (all three of them!)
I am looking for some input from those who have played the Gretsch Billy Bo.
Likes/dislikes?
What kind of sounds were you getting?

I was thinking about trying one of these but never got around to it and I too would be interested in what it has to offer. It's cool enough looking when Billy is playing it...........however,
I'm thinking it just might be a BIG DUD.
I know of no one that has tried one nor do I know of anyone that cares to!
Usually a bad sign for a piece of gear.........

I played one about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot livelier than the Gretsch Les Paul knock-offs(Roc Jet, etc) that I have checked out.

I've played one, and liked it, mostly. Nice neck, light because of the chambered body, and (to me) sounded like the bastard child of a Les Paul and a Duo Jet. . . sort of a Gretsch for people who really like Gibsons.
If it were about a grand cheaper, I'd consider one. . . .

I think they're cool, but at $2600 I won't even bother trying it. Why would I tempt myself with something I won't buy. At $1000-1200, sure. $2600 for that? Not a chance.

Thumbs up

I played one and really loved it. Just did not have the cash it took to bring it home and the place looked like they had real good security.

It WAS very lively..poppy...real cool.

I thought the same thing when it was introduced, and have seen, heard or read nothing to change that. Of course, none of this comes from actual experience with one...so take it with only a few grains of salt....
