My new KR MegaVibe ....

I really haven't had much opportunity to play through it, but from what I have heard, I'm very happy with it. I got the big, original one mainly for appearance ... I just like the more trad, big purple box.

I've had several vibes, Roto - Ultra - Deja - VV - CC2 - Micro - Vertigo, etc.

... but they were all with a different amp and guitar setup ... so direct AB comparisons aren't possible for me. (and with my poor old memory, most probably they'd be substantially off, anyway)

I played through a big rack setup for years that really didn't like pedals so well -- that also would skew any comparisons.

So at any rate ... presently I have a 60th Anni Strat through a Fuchs Lucky 7 that LOVES pedals ... Killer amp.

The only "vibe" in the above list that I've kept is the Roto ... and I'm looking forward to experimenting with placement and stacking with the MV.

The only thing that's made me go "hmmmm?" ... is the Chorus/Vibrato rocker switch ... no big deal, I'm sure the rocker is OK, I'd just prefer the old timey toggle. (KR offered to change out the switch for me, but I hate to burden him, he's so busy) I'm sure it's not hard to change, so he's going to mail me one. +1 for happy customers of Kevin!

My health has failed me these past several years (Parkinson's Disease) and I'm going through a 3 step brain surgery right now ... but I'm very anxious to record a little something to add to the "Mega - Archive" :BEER

Catch you all later. :BEER

Mike

Cool on getting a vibe you dig, by the way nice amp! Even though others may disagree, I still like the Quadraverb, I think it was ahead of it's time.

Thanks Gk!

Yeah, the old Quadraverb get little respect these days. I got my first one from a Mom and Pop in late 1991 ($449, I believe it was) and have never used a factory patch, I can program it in my sleep.

There's still some very valid sounds in there ... that Plate2 reverb will always sound good. And for the really low used prices on eBay Quads? I'll probably always have one.

I'm really liking my Mega right now. I'm very interested in hearing your clips.

Also, the very best to you during this surgery, prayers sent your way.

Hey Trower Freak, I think I'm going to buy a Megavibe pretty quick. I have a question, does the chorus switch make it like a regular chorus pedal or is it just a variation of the Vibrato? Maybe a stupid question but I have to ask.

To Mrjoelv - you`re on the wrong track here, dude....

The chorus sound (think 70s, space rock, dope) will give you those legendary tones you heard on Machine Gun, Breathe etc...it cannot be compared to a regular boss type chorus (think 80s, pop, cocain).

The vibrato function on the Uni-Vibe can sound pretty dang ugly. Like a warped record. Listen to Jimis Hey Baby (Vibrato) and Izabella (Chorus) to get the difference.

Thanks Hiwhat

I figuered it had its own sound but I wasn't sure since I haven't tried one. I love the sound Gilmore gets on "Breathe". I was hoping it wasn't a Boss style chorus.

Not a stupid question.

There's always been a bit of confusion as to a vibe clones 2 modes.

Kinda like Fender using "tremolo" to describe "vibrato"
