Hi all,
I have shipped many things overseas after selling on ebay. It is not hard.

I only accept paypal and I am up front about shipping fees. There is only one way to ship something internationally and still be able to insure it and have tracking (really it is delivery confirmation-same/same for what we want.) the way is us post office GLOBAL EXPRESS.

It is not the cheapest way to ship. But if anything does happen, you are covered with insurance and since it is tracked-everyone along the way is accountable. I have mailed to china, france, UK, brazil, hong kong, italy, japan, and tomorrow it is israel. (of course , you could save a few bucks-not get the insurance-lose the pedal and be out the pedal price !!!)

Now ,actually sending the pedal is also easy. You fill out two forms. One is the us post office express form (really this is just sender and name/address where it is going). The only other form you will need is a customs form. It is sender name/address-receiver name/address -and item description (guitar pedal)+ value. The value is also what you insure it for.
Buyers sometimes ask to mark down the value so they will pay less in taxes at their end. But you can't insure it for less then you declare it and it is illegal to do so-especially for a business!!

As a rough idea. a pedal to UK is most expensive from Colorado ($30). Brazil is expensive too ($30) anywhere else (china, france, germany etc) is around $25-$27. Canada is cheaper, but there mail system is 'different' (I'm being nice) and it just takes forever in customs.....

Overall, paypal-global express at Post Office (2 forms) No worries...

Just two quick notes. A small pedal box costs the same as a 12"x12"x12" box to send. And they have to attach the two forms (remember those ?) to the box, so small pedal boxes need to go into a mailing bag and have the forms attached to the outside of the mailing bag.. It is not a big deal, but the clerk will like you better with a 12x12x12 box. Oh and the boxes should NOT be priority boxes (the blue, white and red stripes ones)-Priority boxes can only be used for priority mail. If you must-turn the priority box inside out.Tadaa!

lastly-this is time consuming-you wouldn't make money doing this on a daily basis. But it is easy to do...
Hope this helps....peace mike

Yep, the actual shipping is not hard.
Here's a link to the USPS calculator for parcel shipping rates to Overseas countries. I have found USPS to be about the cheapest and the most reliable. i.e. most pedals can be sent from US to Australia by "Airmail Parcel Post" for $16-00... extra for insurance.
It's a good one to have in your Favorites if you ship overseas:-

Sorry to get so far off topic.

I hope Silas is doing well.

Hi,

Oh well if I can't bid.. I must as well send some cash over Paypal sent!

I am still smarting from ebay's change - going to lose out on lots of pedal deals ...sigh Most of my best pedals come from people who state US shipping but were willing to ship to me after I've talked to them.

Regards,
Andrew

If it's a small box and total weight is less than 4lbs it can be sent Air Letter Post, which is even cheaper. Again, no insurance or tracking but it does save some cash.

Okay, here's the truly strange thing - I bid for Bob's Mojo Vibe, and won. And I live in Singapore and the usual warning that the seller may not ship to your location came up, and the bid still went through.

crosse79 - If you still want to try bidding through me, we can experiment if you don't mind that it may not work. Just let me know. I think I may just have a way round this, but not sure if it will work or not.

It gets stranger. I just bid on two "US-only" auctions and my bids went through...

My little boy is doing a lot better, they are finally sending us home. Thanks to everyone on this forum and music toys for keeping me going. You all, have been sent from heaven. Here is some pics of the progress. I wanted everyone thats helped us to know how serious this was, but also how good Silas looks now. We have 6 more weeks at home to heal before getting back to normal. I thank everybody for helping my family in this very tuff time. The first picture was two days after the surgery, and the other pictures are from the last day in the hospital. Thanks for all your prayers, and donations, and pedal actions that are going on right now. I don't know what I would have done without you all.

Thanks for the update and the photos Shane. Silas looks better than I feel in my 5th week after surgery. I think kids bounce back faster than old farts like me.

I had a couple of not so good days this week, and haven't quite finished the Mosfet Classic pedal for auction. I should have it ready within another week. The opportunity to be involved in helping has provided me with heaps of incentive to recover quickly, but some things just take a little time.
