I am considering picking up a TTE as I use delay most of the time to fatten up my tone and was just wondering if anybody here actually gigs with one? From what I have read, it seems to be the end all in great delay and echo tones. I have yet to own a echoplex and realize they do require maintainance, but it seems like the TTE has a higher reliability factor than the vintage echoplex(s) of the past. Of course, this is a blanket statement based on internet chit chat... After listening to some of the clips of the TTE, it just sounds stunning!
Any input would be greatly appreciated as this is a expensive purchase. |

I currently use a Bass Delay. Ive been drooling over a TTE as you are, but I havent heard much about them other than what Fulltone says... Id like to try one on a mic as well, but cant seem to get any input from other posters about that either.

I've been using mine on gigs and rehearsals but lately the tapes keep jamming!
I'm now trying to get use to my rig without it, and using the maxon 999 just in case. But I feel I'm missing a big part!! |

I used one for a few months worth of giging and jams.
Sounds freaking killer...like all the 70's rock echo you've heard on many records...but can't out of a pedal. But in the end it was a pain in the ass...so I sold it and got a T-Rex... Then after playing the Mad Professor Delay...I sold the T-Rex and I'm waiting on the MP. I would say it's great for home use...but a bit fragile for gigs...

I have used an Echoplex for years. More recently a Fulltone TTE which i really like. Goes nice with a SuperLead or JTM45. Like Craise says 2 posts up, its a classic sound.

What do you do - just change out the tape, or capstan stuff as well? Does it offer a bit of warble like the old Echoplex units, or does its tape track exactly true? My fav tape delay tone - Jimi Hendrix' Red House. I frickin' LOVE that sound. My Echoplex and do it, but I'm WAY concerned about gig reliability with that unit. It's rollers, capstan, etc are 30 years old. That's old for moving parts.... Thanks! jb

Mine were in horrible shape, so i sent them to Mike Battle for some much needed TLC. As good as they are, now they stay at home. The Fulltone TTE is really good and a worthy substitute for an original EP2 or 3. The user guide has a suggested maintenance schedule which is quite straight-forward.
